Baby Einstein: Baby Mozart Of all the reasons you’ll click the Add to Shopping Cart button next to Baby Einstein’s Baby Mozart–and there are many–the best one is that playing this record for babies doesn’t feel weird. Instead of subjecting tiny, tender ears to the kind of Mozart that can make adult classical fans wilt when tackled by a maestro who means business, this is Mozart lite, mixed and mastered by a dad, Bill Weisbach, who’s clearly hung around for his share of crib-side cooing. The slightly tinny sound of a child’s piano sweeps the sting out of Piano Sonata in B Flat’s third movement; the first movement of Concerto for Flute and Harp in C floats by, birdlike; variations on “Ah vous dirai-je, Maman” translate to a fancy-sounding (but adorable) “Twinkle, Twinkle”; and Piano Sonata in F’s third movement snuggles so deeply into its childlike setting that if you close your eyes, you’ll see a pastel parade of animals floating by overhead. Other pieces (more aptly called fragments, since only one track stretches beyond the three-minute mark), like Symphony No. 41’s fourth movement, wander into more robust Mozart territory, but it’s here the claims about classical music enhancing young kids’ abstract reasoning skills and spatial intelligence crystallize. Babies strapped in for a roller coaster of sounds that gracefully dips, swerves, and high-jumps like this version, do have to process what they’re hearing somehow (and a case could be made that the instruments Weisbach’s chosen–the vibraphone, glockenspiel, and music box among them–make it more appealing for them to do so). Followers of Julie Aigner-Clark’s Baby Einstein empire, many of whom opted out of the fan club once Disney bought the company in 2001, won’t trip over a single Mickey Mouse-ified sound here. This is pure, plugged in, and muted Mozart, and if it doesn’t make your baby smarter, it’ll at least sound awfully sweet issuing from your nursery’s speakers. –Tammy La Gorce
Customer Review: Nice CD for a young infant/toddler to listen to
The Baby Mozart music CD’s are perfect for my infant daughter. She listens to them during the day and the lullabies at night while going to bed. I would recommend these products to any parents with young infants.
Customer Review: Lively and comforting CD!
This CD is inspiring and comforting! I have listened to it a lot since I got it and will continue to share it with junior when he arrives.

Customer Review: Great “classic” BE format
While I hate to admit it, my 8 month old is hooked on Baby Einstein. His favorites are Baby McDonald, Numbers Nursery, Baby VanGogh and Baby Shakespeare–i.e., all the classical puppet format types. Also really loves Babies First Moves, though that is more of the real-kid-doing-fun-stuff format. I’ve researched the BE series thoroughly, and highly recommend these. While I am not crazy enough to think the videos will make my little one smarter, I do like that I know what he’s seeing, I get a few minutes to shower, cook, etc, and most importantly, he loves it!
Customer Review: Baby Homer Simpson? DVDs not for babies even if “Einstein” is in the name…
The name “Baby Einstein” is a nice way to lull parents into feeling okay about their babies watching t.v. and videos, but according to the American Academy of Pediatrics babies should not be exposed to television AT ALL (this means DVDs and movies too!) before they’re 2 years old! Go to Boston.com for the Boston Globe’s 8/8/07 article that states,

Customer Review: A favorite at our house
While I hate to admit it, my 8 month old is hooked on Baby Einstein. His favorites are Baby McDonald, Numbers Nursery, Baby VanGogh and Baby Shakespeare–i.e., all the classical puppet format types. Of these, McDonald is his absolute favorite. He’s been watching it since he was 5 months old and just loves every minute of it. It is truly one of the more stimulating and beautiful of the series. While I am not crazy enough to think the BE videos will make my baby any smarter, I do like that I know what he’s watching, I get a few minutes to shower, cook, etc, and most importantly, he loves them!

Jumpstart Advanced Kindergarten (PC & Mac) JumpStart Advanced Kindergarten brings a world of learning to life for your child!
Customer Review: great learning tool, my son enjoys Jumpstart very much
my kindergartner-homeschooler really loves the Jumpstart line. There was some technical difficulties with opening up the disc on the computer, but since our family has 2 of them, we just put the discs in the computer that it does work on. not sure what the problem was exactly, but we are able to get around that. The content is great-nonviolent educational gaming is great for my son, Jumpstart is really a part of our homeschooling so far (along with many other books, games, and experiences- variety helps)
Customer Review: Disappointing. Only 1 of 3 discs is Mac OS X compatible!
The packaging is very deceiving. Only one of the 3 CD’s is Mac OS X compatible, Although the other 2 do launch, they launch in OS 9 emulation (classic) mode. OS X has been out for what, 5 years and they haven’t upgraded all their software yet!

Reader Rabbit Reading Ages 4-6 A great program for children ages 4-6 to build reading confidence! Take a giant step towards fostering a lifelong love of stories, reading, and language.
Customer Review: Does NOT work with Apple OSX
I bought this game which states it works with Apple OSX when fact that it only works in ‘classic’ (OS 9) on the Mac OS. I had to install OS9 on a secondary hard drive to get this to work and it only works marginally at best. It’s slow and often produces an “Out of Memory” Error even though I’ve got about 288MB of RAM on my system. I have no idea why don’t make a true OSX version, since it’s been out for 7 years now! My son does seem to like the games on here, but most Apple equipment can’t even run OS9 now so it’s almost worthless. Not recommended for OSX users.
Customer Review: Another great product by Reader Rabbit
We ordered this for our four year old daughter and, while it is probably a bit above her level (she is not reading yet but is beginning to sound out letters, etc. and when we read to her she will point out letters that she recognizes…but has not yet began to recognize entire words), it is a wonderful program!
